Article 07- Morality |
| 7.1 |
Morality |
| |
To the extent that a political leadership is able to establish and maintain the belief in its people of a mandate to prosecute war, then war may appear to have a moral right against their claimed opposition. |
| 7.2 |
Morality and relativity |
| |
All morality concerning war is relative to the position of the person in relation to the combatants. The actions of one combatant in prosecuting war may appear to have a moral basis, while from the perspective of the opponents, the exact same act may appear immoral. |
| 7.3 |
Morality and legality of war |
| |
The legality of war is separate from the perceived morality of prosecuting a war. |
| |
An opponent may have a strong mandate from its population to prosecute a war that in the eyes of the wider community of states is seen as illegal based on the absence, or inadequacy of legal apparatus to support the war. |
