34.1 Types of Objectives  
  As all war is political to some extent, by its definition all types of objectives have some political motive.
 
  All objectives of war may therefore be defined as belonging to at least one of six possible categories of objectives determined by the primary political goal of the protagonists.  
  • Recognition
• Influence
• Independence
• Coup
• Colonialism
• Pre-emption
• Genocide
• Armageddon
