Article 54-
Justice and enemy leadership |
| 54.1 |
Never put a tyrant on trial |
| |
Under no circumstances should a tyrant ever be allowed to be placed on trial. Such a process offers a former tyrant the opportunity for remorse, redemption and possible martyrdom, in spite of their crimes.
| |
Rather than ending a war, such action can often represent the opening act of a new war yet to come. |
| 54.2 |
Trials of senior military and political leaders
| |
Where senior enemy combatants are put on trial for their crimes, their trials should always be closed courts, without the media or public comment of the proceedings to be made until after the verdicts and sentences.
| |
Public trials of senior former enemy combatants only provides a platform for dissent and support for any continued followers and supporters. |
