| Remote intelligence is any intelligence gathered without direct human to human contact such as on the ground reconassaince or spies. |

| Remote intelligence is critical in that it provides a backdrop for verification of the intentions of the enemy, both from the point of view of cross checking the information of direct intelligence and the secrets of spies. |

| 60.2 | The limitation of remote intelligence | |
| Remote intelligence, no matter how precise in view or analysis can provide the complete picture on the intentions of the enemy. War is deception and the enemy in understanding the use of remote intelligence is able to let be visible those things it wishes to be visible. | ||
| Therefore remote intelligence may indicate the enemy is planning one course of action while the enemy chooses an alternate path. Over dependence of remote intelligence can therefore present a strategic and tactical trap if over relied upon. | ||
| Instead, remote intelligence is best used as a way of collaborating other primary sources and as a way of extending through the mind of the enemy. For example, if a spy indicates one course of action is to be taken by the enemy, but remote intelligence indicators another, then either the spy is lying or the enemy has created a deliberate ruse. | ||
