Assassination warfare is the term used for a weapon centric method of warfare involving the limited or extensive use of assassination of state and/or military leaders through the use of sniper and/or suicide missions.
| |
More frequently and traditionally classed as a tactic associated with guerilla warfare and terrorism, assassination warfare is now considered distinct in that one or more acts of assassination can affect real and major change on the enemy without the full spectrum of conflict often associated with guerilla warfare and terrorism warfare.
| |
Assassination warfare is also considered distinct from terrorism in that the objective is to minimize civilian casualties while inflicting the maximum damage on the leadership hierarchy of the enemy.
| |
Sometimes referred to as sniper warfare, assassination warfare is considered as superior definition as the use of sniper techniques is only one of several methods potentially used to kill the military and/or civilian leadership of the enemy.
